Liposuction

Liposuction is an option to slim and reshape areas with extra fat deposits in order to improve the body contours and self confidence. Before the procedure begins, anesthesia is administered to you , but the anesthesia method varies depending on the degree of fat being removed and the type of liposuction being performed. It may only be locally applied or you may require a general anesthesia in which case the surgery will be done while you are sleeping.

Once the anesthesia has taken effect, the liposuction procedure starts by using a suction device attached to a small, stainless steel instrument called a cannula. A small incision is made by the surgeon so that the cannula can be inserted into fatty areas between skin and muscle where it removes excess fat using a suction pump. The length of the procedure will vary with the amount of fat needing removal.

Once your procedure is completed, the incision site is covered with sterile dressing and a compression garment or elastic bandages These help to prevent infection, as well as control swelling after liposuction and compress the skin to your new body contours.
