Gynecomastia is the growth of abnormally large breasts in males. Sixty percent of males worldwide have some degree of Gynecomastia. It is associated with overgrowth of breast tissue rather than excess fatty tissue.

Sometimes this can develop during puberty, and sometimes later in life. Gynecomastia can cause emotional discomfort and impair self confidence. Some men may even avoid certain physical activities and intimacy simply to hide their condition.

Androgens are hormones that create male characteristics, such as hair growth, muscle size, and a deep voice. Estrogens are hormones that create female characteristics. All men have both androgens and estrogens.

Changes in the levels of these hormones, or in how the body uses or responds to these hormones can cause enlarged breasts in men.

The Gynecomastia operation essentially involves liposuction and the removal of glandular tissue and some fatty tissue in the outer lower portion of the chest. Which leads to a flattening of the chest area.

Recovery is normally between two to three weeks and scarring is minimal in most cases. It will take a few months to see the final result but the improved upper body will likely enhance your self-image and confidence.
