Getting Informed
Botox Botox, also called Botulism Toxin, is a drug that is made from a toxin produced by the bacterium called Clostridium Botulinum. Botox injection works to weaken muscles, paralyze muscles, and block certain nerves. The effect last about six to nine months, and the injection needs to be repeated. Botox is a good way to remove or decrease wrinkles. The injected muscle can not contract for six to nine months, which leads to relax and soften the wrinkles. It is most often used on forehead lines, crow's feet (lines around the eye), frown lines, smokers lines (mouth lines), bunny lines (wrinkles around nose), excessive gum display, facial slimming (jaw line slimming), and hyperhidrosis. Botox can also help adults with chronic migraine; treat increased muscle stiffness in elbow, wrist, and finger muscles; treat upper limb plasticity; abnormal head position and neck pain. Getting Botox takes only a few minutes, and no pain reliever is necessarily required by the patient. Botox is injected with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. You might experience minor bruises and swelling after injection, and it generally takes three to seven days to take full effect. |
